Low vision or amblyopia is a condition characterized by reduced visual acuity, which cannot be corrected by wearing glasses or contact lenses, in the absence of any organic eye disorder, ie eye disease. It occurs in early childhood, in preschool age, in the so-called amblyogenic period. This is the period when the brain centers for vision and the nerve pathways that transmit information from the eye to the brain develop. If they do not develop properly by about the age of eight, there is no possibility of their later development. It is crucial that the treatment of low vision is started on time.
